Arcadis acquires WSP Infrastructure Engineering GmbH in Germany

Arcadis has announced the acquisition of WSP Infrastructure Engineering GmbH, a 160-people-strong, German-based engineering firm specializing in rail infrastructure, signaling, structural engineering, and software development.

This acquisition will double Arcadis’ presence in the German rail market, strengthening its position for growth. WSP Infrastructure Engineering GmbH is known for its strong German rail design and engineering capabilities and holds critical pre-qualifications for framework agreements with Deutsche Bahn. These complement Arcadis’ current activities in the German rail market and will unlock significant new revenue opportunities through a more streamlined project delivery, supported by global collaboration and the capacity and expertise within Arcadis’ Global Excellence Centres.

The German rail infrastructure market is a key growth priority for Arcadis as it is poised for strong structural growth from an €86 billion investment plan in existing rail infrastructure over 2020-2029. In addition, Deutsche Bahn has identified a need for up to €150 billion by 2034 to modernize the existing rail network, rehabilitate key corridors, and lay the foundations for digitalization following the recently announced plans to increase investments in German infrastructure through a €500 billion infrastructure fund over the next decade.

Alan Brookes, Arcadis’ CEO said: “This acquisition strengthens Arcadis’ position in the attractive German rail market. Our recent success in Energy Transition, Industrial Manufacturing, and Mobility, along with recent expansion into the data center sector, has solidified our strong Engineering and Consulting presence in Germany. By integrating this additional expertise and connecting it into our European rail network capabilities we will accelerate our Mobility business and meet the rising demand for infrastructure, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable, future-ready transport solutions."

KAMAZ and Daimler begin construction on plane cabin production plant

On March 10, KAMAZ and Daimler began construction in Naberezhnye Chelny on a joint plane cabin production plant that will focus on frame production and painting.

On Wednesday, Sergey Kogogin — Director General of KAMAZ — joined Wolfgang Bernhard from Daimler's Board of Management and DK RUS's management team to visit the construction site of the new DK RUS cabin production plant, located at KAMAZ's facilities, and KAMAZ's cabin assembly line.

"Establishing a cabin production joint venture with Daimler will be the next step in expanding our cooperation with the German group. KAMAZ is implementing Rostec's strategy to raise "smart" capital that allows us to obtain the necessary expertise, gain access to new markets, and provide additional financing,"Sergey Kogogin, Director General of KAMAZ, stated.

The strategic partnership between Daimler and KAMAZ has existed since 2008 and has developed into a tight-knit cooperation involving a large number of successful joint projects.

The design idiom is clear, purist and very progressive. The fabric soft top can be opened fully automatically in twelve seconds – even when driving at top speed. The smart fortwo cabrio has celebrated its world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September 2015. The open-top two-seater will reach dealers in February 2016.

The six-storey Plot 5 building will form the first phase of the development, with six floors of office space and communal amenity space at the ground floor.

MVRDV's developments in Hongqiao, Shanghai have surfaced on Google maps. As well as the Flower Building's green roof, which contributed to the building's three star 'Green Building Label', users can also find the Hongqiao CBD masterplan just to the south.

The newly released satellite imagery shows the majority of the buildings in the project taking shape, with the Flower Building leading the way as one of the few already completed buildings in the area.
