Stantec to Acquire Page, Strengthening Its Position as a Top Architecture and Engineering Powerhouse

In a move that significantly expands its architectural and engineering footprint, Stantec has announced it will acquire Page, a nationally recognized US-based design firm. The acquisition will make Stantec the second-largest architecture firm in the United States and cement its leadership as North America's largest integrated engineering and architecture company. It also accelerates key objectives outlined in Stantec’s 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, particularly in rapidly growing markets across the US.
Stantec has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Page, a 1,400-person multidisciplinary architecture and engineering company based in Washington, DC.
Founded in 1898, Page has cultivated a strong national reputation, providing specialized expertise across sectors including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, data centers, aviation, and science and technology. Integrating Page’s capabilities will enhance Stantec’s offerings in critical technical areas such as cleanroom design, fabrication facility planning, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
“The addition of Page strengthens our Buildings practice and broadens our platform to better serve clients across North America and internationally,” said Gord Johnston, Stantec’s president and CEO. “Page shares our commitment to design excellence and innovation.”
The acquisition will expand Stantec’s US Buildings division by approximately 35%, raising its American workforce to about 13,500 employees. The deal, which is subject to regulatory approvals, will be financed through Stantec’s existing funds and credit facilities. Upon closing, the company expects to maintain its net debt to adjusted EBITDA within its targeted 1.0x to 2.0x range. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Page maintains offices in 20 locations across the US and Mexico, including major hubs like Houston, Austin, Dallas, Denver, New York City, Boston, Atlanta, and San Francisco. The firm has delivered complex technical projects, demonstrating significant expertise in both architectural design and integrated engineering systems.
The two firms previously collaborated on major healthcare facilities for the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System in Florida, showcasing their shared strength in delivering technically sophisticated, large-scale healthcare environments.
Thomas McCarthy, CEO of Page, emphasized the strategic alignment between the firms: “Together, we will support our clients with expanded reach, greater expertise, and deeper resources. Our strategic plans were to achieve domestic primacy and global influence for our team, joining Stantec positions us to accelerate these plans.”
Page’s notable project highlights include:
