United Utilities have selected Stantec for two lots of its Network Modelling Framework—"Water Network and Water Quality Modelling” and “Wastewater Network Modelling.”

United Utilities has awarded Stantec two key lots of its Network Modelling Framework—“Water Network and Water Quality Modelling” and “Wastewater Network Modelling.” United Utilities provides water and wastewater services across the North West of England and manages a landholding of 56,000 hectares in the region. Its upcoming Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) program represents the most significant water and wastewater infrastructure investment in the area for a century.

Under the framework, which spans five years during AMP8 with an option to extend for an additional six years into AMP9, Stantec will deliver a range of interdisciplinary modeling and analytical services. These efforts will inform United Utilities’ capital projects, asset management strategies, and day-to-day operations.

Stantec’s contributions will include developing, verifying, and maintaining accurate hydraulic models for water and wastewater networks. The company may also work on integrated urban drainage and rainwater models, solution modeling to support United Utilities’ AMP8 storm overflow initiatives, various reporting and research projects, and providing critical information to guide strategic infrastructure investments.

“With increasing environmental and societal pressures, having an accurate, real-time understanding of both surface and subsurface assets is essential for water companies,” said Scott Jackson, Stantec’s Regional Business Lead for Water in the UK and Ireland. “Our strong presence in the North West, supported by our expanding Manchester office and nationwide resources, positions us well to collaborate with United Utilities and its partners. Together, we can enhance operational performance and meet regulatory requirements.”

Jane Simpson, Capital Delivery Director at United Utilities, added: “Our new network modeling partners will help us make informed decisions across operations and capital investment programs. By monitoring rivers, catchment areas, and coastal infrastructure, we can identify improvements to meet future demand bette.”

Throughout AMP8, Stantec has also served as a design development partner to United Utilities, contributing design services supporting ongoing projects across the North West.
