Your tasks

The Mechanical Development Engineer will work to develop new products that meet performance, quality, safety, and market requirements. Key responsibilities include full system and operations expertise of Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), define product requirements to manufacturing suppliers, Mechanical product support on new product development projects and legacy products. This role will entail working in a cross functional team with project managers, product managers, electrical engineers, and software engineers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical expert on Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) systems in our portfolio

Investigate and develop new and existing heat pump, air conditioning, and refrigeration technologies

Support business units with the development of heat pump products

Develop technical product specification and requirements

Ensure product meets all legal, safety, and compliance regulations

Hands on prototyping development and verification testing

Noise and vibration analysis - airflow, fans, blowers

System optimization and performance testing

Data analysis of testing results and root cause analysis

Ensuring required certification for product compliance

This position will sit at our facility in Watertown, MA. 

Your profile

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field

4+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge in heat pump and air conditioning technologies as applied to Heat Pump and AC equipment and systems, electro-mechanical and direct digital control circuits, electrical circuits, blowers, and motors

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic understanding of thermodynamics and engineering fundamentals

Familiarity with applicable UL safety standards UL-60335-2-40 and UL-484 and AHRI performance standards AHRI 210/240, AHRI 600, AHRI 1380

Certified PE

Proficiency to learn about new technology and adapt to new situations

Motivated self-starter, results driven

Excellent oral and written communication skills
