ŠKODA AUTO

At the beginning of December 1895, the mechanic Václav Laurin and the book-seller Václav Klement started manufacturing bicycles of their own design, patriotically named Slavia. A few years later in 1899, the Laurin & Klement Co. began producing motorcycles with an impressive commercial and competitive success. After initial experiments at the turn of the century, the young company produced their first car in 1905. The firm was renamed ŠKODA in 1925 after a merger and continues producing automobiles under the distinctive ŠKODA badge from their headquarters in Mladá Boleslav as part of the Volkswagen Group.

With tradition going back to 1895, the ŠKODA AUTO is one of the oldest car manufacturers in  the world, but at the same time, it is also fresh, dynamic company.

Our Growth Strategy is bearing fruit. Our product range has increased to seven individual model series, supporting further growth in the future. ŠKODA has maintained a strong position on the major European markets, as well as in rapidly developing markets like China and Russia. The Growth Strategy, supported by our model campaign and the further internationalization of our brand, enabled us to deliver more than 1 million vehicles to customers worldwide in 2014 for the first time in a single year.
