About the Organization

The department of Group Trucks Operations (GTO) Quality & Engineering (Q&E) is part of a global function that develops product and process solutions, leading to operational excellence. Q&E Bangalore department consists of Technical Preparation Engineers (TPEs), Software Process Controller (SWPC), Virtual Manufacturing Engineers (VME), Product Preparation & Documentation Engineer (PPD), Customer Adaptation Design Engineers (CA) and Diagnostic Engineering & Test Developers (DETD).

About the Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Virtual Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on developing and maintaining the Digital Twin of the Body in Color (BIC) line, enabling data-driven decision-making for layout optimization, process sequencing, and cycle time analysis. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with product design, manufacturing teams and suppliers (Line builders) to validate the outcomes of study.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a digital twin model of the Body in Color line using industry-standard simulation tools

Conduct robotic simulation studies to evaluate and optimize:

Line layout and equipment positioning

Process sequence for efficient operation

Cycle time and throughput analysis

Perform virtual commissioning and feasibility analysis for robotic systems, plant equipment, Line side trolleys and processes.

Support process design and planning, ensuring alignment with automation capabilities and ergonomic standards.

Continuously update simulation models to reflect engineering changes and support ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

  Education:

•    Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering.

Experience:

•    8+ years of experience in BIC product Development and Manufacturing Process.

Skills & Tools:

•    Proficiency in robotic simulation tools (e.g., Process Simulate, Delima, Robed)

•    Strong understanding of body-in-white (BIW) processes, particularly welding and joining techniques.

•    Experience with CAD tools and PLM systems.

•    Ability to interpret and work from product and process design data.

•    Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

•    Strong communication and collaboration skills.

•    Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing concepts.

•    Familiarity with ergonomic assessment tools and standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Experience in virtual commissioning or offline robot programming.

•    Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing concepts.
