Morgan Advanced Materials has invested in the manufacture of Polycrystalline Wool fibre, utilising Sol-Gel Technology
This high temperature insulating fibre, marketed under the brand name Alphawool® will be available in a range of product forms, including:
- Alphawool Bulk HA (1600ºC) and LA (1500ºC)
- Alphawool Unifelt with a classification temperature of 1600ºC
- Alphawool 1600 VF Board with classification temperature of 1600ºC
Alphawool fibre is produced by a ‘sol-gel method’ from aqueous spinning solutions and is suitable for use at application temperatures > 1300°C and in critical chemical and physical application conditions. Its key properties are:
- Defined dimensions
- Chemical and Thermal Stability
- Low Linear Shrinkage
- Low thermal mass and good insulating properties
- High tensile strength
- Very low shot content < 2% (Alphawool bulk)
- Uniform Fibre Diameters Average
- Lightweight
- High Resilience
